04 November 2013, London, Manchester, Munich, Melbourne: Having supported GE Healthcare Life Sciences to promote its cell technologies products for the last five years, College Hill Life Sciences, part of the international business communications consultancy, College Group, was pleased to join its client in celebrating winning gold for the Best Healthcare Campaign at this year’s CIPR PRide Awards for Thames and Chiltern.
The award recognises the global success of the 2012 GE Healthcare Cell Imaging Competition, a campaign which College Hill Life Sciences has been pivotal in supporting and publicising. The annual competition celebrates the exceptional research of scientists world-wide who use GE Healthcare’s light microscopy imaging systems in their work, with winners visiting New York to see their images displayed in Times Square for their prize.
This year saw the competition successfully reach a bigger audience than ever through the use of blogs, websites and social media with over 15,000 people voting for their favourite image. Finalists’ images were featured in publications world-wide including The Guardian, Science Magazine, Gizmodo, The Huffington Post and prestigiously, the Director of the NIH’s blog.
The team from GE Healthcare was presented with the award at a ceremony at Sopwell House, St Albans, 1st November 2013 which was attended by Tim Watson and Dr Rebecca Caygill on behalf of College Hill Life Sciences’ team.
On awarding gold, CIPR said:
“This was a campaign that captured the global imagination with an interesting and creative approach to engage people in an important area. Great use of photography and placing of stories turned a serious scientific subject into something most people can relate to and the judges were impressed with the imaginative approach.”
Commenting on the win, Partner in charge of the GE Healthcare Life Sciences account Dr Lynne Trowbridge said:
"It’s great to be able to work with a client at the cutting edge of scientific discovery, and be able to execute a campaign that both makes the science accessible and also creates pride and excitement amongst our client’s customers.”
