13 October 2017, London, UK: Instinctif Partners is pleased to announce that Sue Charles, Managing Partner of its Life Sciences Practice and 30 year veteran of the biotech industry has been elected to the Board of Directors of the UK BioIndustry Association (BIA).
The results of the voting were announced at the BIA AGM yesterday, alongside four other new Board members, namely Dr Jane Dancer (F-star), Prof Jackie Hunter (Benovelent AI), Dr Kyriacos Mitrophanous (Oxford BioMedica) and Keith Thompson (Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult).
Sue Charles said “I am thrilled and honored to have been voted onto the BIA Board of Directors and look forward to actively supporting the UK life sciences industry through appointment. Congratulations to the 11 candidates who stood for election and in particular to Jane, Jackie, Kyriacos and Keith who was also successful in being elected.
“As an active supporter of the BIA over many years, I am passionate about helping the UK’s strengths in bioscience innovation translate into commercial and investor success. I hope to bring my wide experience as an entrepreneur, creative thinker and communications professional to the Board, to help the BIA continue expanding its reach and impact, and in steering a successful future for UK biotech, especially as we navigate the unchartered waters of a post-Brexit environment and beyond.”
Sue been actively involved with the biotech sector for her entire career, since the mid-eighties. She has a First Class degree in Biochemistry from Oxford and an MBA from Cranfield Business School. Her passion for the emerging biotech sector led her into communications consultancy, working with many pioneering companies. She has served on the Boards of a number of companies including as founding Managing Director of De Facto, the UK’s first dedicated life sciences communications consultancy and Northbank Communications which has become the global life sciences practice of Instinctif Partners through M&A, as well as Instinctif Partners (Australia) Pty Ltd). She also has also served as a Director of a biotech spin out and as Trustee of The Jane Goodall Institute charity (JGI) In 2016 Sue was named as one of most inspirational women working in Life Sciences in the 50 Movers & Shakers in BioBusiness 2016 report.
